Advocacy

Welcome to Issaquah PTSA Council Advocacy-

At Issaquah PTSA Council, we believe advocacy is a powerful tool for creating positive change in our schools and community. Whether it’s championing policies at the state level, supporting district-wide initiatives, or engaging in federal education efforts, our mission is to ensure every child’s voice is heard. We invite you to join us on this journey—your involvement strengthens our collective impact and helps shape a brighter future for all students.

Advocacy Chairs and Local PTSA Boards are encouraged to use the diagram below as a helpful tool in determining how to allocate your time and efforts in your role. Many of us are drawn to advocacy work by specific causes and issues that resonate deeply with us. If that is the case for you, please feel free to focus on what works best for you and your local PTSA. This diagram is intended to serve as general guidance, not a strict roadmap, so you can customize your approach in a way that aligns with your passion and your community’s needs.

Introducing the PTSA Advocacy Calendar: A Strategic Planning Tool for Coordinated Impact

To support our shared mission of championing student success and strengthening our education system, we are excited to share the PTSA Advocacy Calendar. This tool is designed to help Advocacy Chairs, Presidents, and Communication VPs/Chairs align their efforts and plan ahead for key advocacy moments throughout the year. The calendar highlights periods of intensified activity—marked with red arrows—when timely communication and coordinated action are most critical. These peak times represent opportunities to make the greatest impact on the well-being of our students, educators, and schools. By working together and staying informed, we can ensure our collective voice is heard when it matters most.
