Our Outreach program fosters communication and awareness of both the needs and the resources occurring in the greater Issaquah community. By sharing information from organizations like Issaquah Nourishing Network, the PTSA network can easily bring together those who are seeking assistance with those organizations and individuals contributing resources. 1.  City of Issaquah: Memorial Day: Decorating Veteran Headstones Sat, May 29, 2021 9:00AM – 10:00AM Local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3436 will host the decorating of Veterans headstones with crosses, Star of David and flags. Volunteers are welcome to assist. Everyone will follow social distancing and volunteers should bring their own masks and gloves. 2. City of Issaquah: Memorial Day: “Parade” of Cars Monday, May 31, 2021 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3436 will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at Lower Hillside Cemetery. This year, due to COVID-19, the ceremony will consist of driving through the cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m. to honor those veterans who have fallen. There will be patriotic music and local veterans “Honoring the Fallen Vets” at the cemetery. Small U.S. Flags will be presented to children as cars drive by, using social distancing, which will be strictly adhered to during the “parade” of cars. 3. Issaquah Youth Advisory Board Career Exploration Seminar Sunday, May 30, 2021 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM The Issaquah Youth Advisory Board invites you to attend this career exploration event. Learn about a variety of careers and how to pursue them! Featuring speakers from STEM, business, education, art and more!

4. IFCB: ONE-TIME DONATION DROP-OFFS:  Tuesday, June 1: 1-3 pm IFCB invites donors and supporters to join us in a collaborative and strategic food drive program!  If you’d like to do a one-time donation drop-off, please bring your food and personal care items from our Emergency Needs List to our warehouse ONLY during these days and times   Warehouse location: AtWork (930   7th Ave NW, Issaquah, WA 98027)

5. KCLS: Our annual Summer Reading Program kicks off on June 1! Join an online community of readers from all over King County by participating in this year’s reading challenge and online events. Your goal is to read 1,000 minutes between June 1 and August 31.

6. Youth Eastside Services: What You Need To Know – Safety, Youth, & Mental Health – a community forum THUR, JUNE 3, 2021 7 PM Remember Mr Yuk stickers? Prevention is just as important in keeping kids safe as they get older. Join community experts to learn what you can do to prepare long before a crisis occurs. Kristie Neklason and Delaney Knottnerus of YES will cover Safety at Home: Over the Counter & Prescription Medications, Other Drugs & Substances. Isabell Sakamoto of Seattle Children’s will discuss Safety at Home: Firearms, followed by Susie Kroll (Attending Mental Health Professional for Redmond Police Dept) with what you need to know about legal implications. It will end with modeling conversations around safety within your family and with other families – including scripts & tips

7. NAMI Eastside: NAMI Walks Starts June 5, 2021! Join our NAMI Eastside team and get free access to an 8-week workout series from @couchtoactive! The series begins June 5th. Register at www.namiwalks.org/team/NAMIEastside!

8. ELAP: Current Immigration Updates Thu Jun 10th, 5:00pm – 6:30pm  With this new year came a new administration – meaning new guidelines on Immigration! Join ELAP and the West African Community Council as we discuss current immigration updates. We’ll also have Q&A during the presentation for your questions around this topic! 9. NAMI Eastside: Friends and Family Seminar June 12, or July 17, or August 21, 9am – 12pm NAMI Family & Friends is a 3-hour seminar that informs and supports people who have loved ones with a mental health condition. Participants will learn about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, communication strategies, crisis preparation and NAMI resources. Seminar leaders have personal experience with mental health conditions in their families

10. Kindering: Speaker Series: Sensory Challenges in School – How to Advocate for our Kids WED, JUNE 23, 2021 AT 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM We all want our children to thrive academically, and there are several ways to help our children grow cognitively that do not involve sitting at a desk. In this session learn the importance of play and movement in the development of your child’s cognitive ability. Presented by Alex Neukirch, Kindering Occupational Therapist

11. ELAP: After the Eviction Moratorium Thu. Jun 24th, 5:00pm – 6:30pm  The eviction moratorium may expire at the end of June. So what happens next? NAMI Eastside: LEAP Workshop Saturday, June 26, 2021 9:30am – 12:30pm LEAP Workshop (Listen-Empathize-Agree-Partner) based Dr. Xavier Amador’s book “I’m Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help”. This 3-hour workshop will be facilitated by Bob Krulish. IFCB & ISF: Tools4School, Aug 12, 2021 Tools 4 School is happening on August 12th and we need your help to ensure that we are able to provide backpacks and supply packs to all the students who need it. 17. Seattle/King County Public Health: Increase in benefit for fruits & vegetables June – Sept 2021 Fill up on extra veggies and fruits this summer with WIC’s temporary increase! 19. Influence The Choice: End of Year Celebration! June 7, 2021 5:30pm We would love to have you join us for our End of Year Celebration, Monday June 7th at 5:30 p.m.! We will gather in fellowship (virtually) to highlight the year’s accomplishments and struggles while setting the stage for next year’s work. 20. The Sophia Way 101 Lunch & Learn 2021 June 15, 2021 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Looking to volunteer? Join us at The Sophia Way 101. This virtual class is an opportunity to learn about our mission to end homelessness for women and how you can get involved as an episodic or regular volunteer, meal donor, and supporter. In just one short hour, you will meet our board and staff, hear stories of impact, and learn more about homelessness.

21. Imagine Housing Lunch & Learn (Virtually!) Thursday, June 17, noon – 1:00pm These quarterly events are open to the community and are for anyone who wants to learn more about our organization, our approach to affordable housing, and how to get involved. Whether you’re just curious about what we do or if you’re looking for ways to get involved in your community, grab your lunch, or a coffee, and bring any questions for this informative and interactive hour.

22. Hollaback! is a global, people-powered movement to end harassment — in all its forms. We believe we all have a role to play in disrupting harassment and building a culture where it is no longer seen as “just the price you have to pay” for being a woman, LGBTQ+, a person of color, or any other marginalized identity. We teach people to take action, and to reach across their own identities to ally with others and establish a united front against harassment each time we witness it.

23. US Census: Community Resilience Estimates Tuesday, June 1, 2021 Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (ET) 11am PT Community resilience is the capacity of individuals and households to absorb, endure, and recover from the health, social, and economic impacts of a disaster such as a hurricane or pandemic. This webinar will introduce attendees to the CRE, explain how it promotes equitable distribution of federal and state resources and funding, and show how to identify at risk neighborhoods in their community.
