Welcome

The Mission of the Issaquah PTSA Council:

The primary mission of the Issaquah PTSA Council is to support our member units, with particular focus on helping them adopt best practices and develop leadership. We do this through training, sharing resources, and actively facilitating communications within PTA and between PTA and the Issaquah School District. In addition, the Council advocates for students at the local and state levels-in coordination with our local units- with the mission of improving the delivery of public education to the children in the ISD. The Council partners with the Issaquah School District and the Issaquah Schools Foundation in support of this mission.

The 2008-2009 Goals of the Issaquah PTSA Council:

  1. Council will continue the partnership with ISD regarding the Middle School Experience Project and collaborating on compiling and publishing the survey results, focus groups, and recommendations.
  2. Council will partner with the ISD regarding the Secondary School Reculturing; identifying near-term opportunities for the advancement of student learning.
  3. Council will support the ISD in distributing factual, accurate, and timely information to educate our members about the changes that will affect our community; including Boundary Review, Building Construction & Conversion, pending Budget Shortfalls, and Bond & Levy.
  4. Council will educate and mobilize our parents on State and National issues, including but not limited to, CORE 24 (High School Diploma Course Requirements), BEFTF (Basic Education Finance Task Force), and NCLB/ AYP (No Child Left Behind/ Adequate Yearly Progress).
  5. Council will support local units with the conversion to online payments, fundraising, and registration.
  6. Council will continue to advocate to maximize effective student learning time for all students.
